Diary of the Day!!
My group is the random group. We initially became a group because none of us knew which Shakespeare play we would like to do.
For our first meeting together we had a big discussion and brainstormed ideas for our performance. We made decisions on what play/s we would like to work from and how we would present our act. Whether we decided to bring the play/s to life in modern day society or run through them exactly as they are or even have a bit of each. Everyone participated and contributed to the discussions and soon our minds were filled to the brim with ideas we just had to let out. We concluded as a group that we would like to present numerous Shakespeare plays in the the form of a morning talk show like Sunrise. There would be the weather, news, sports, counsellor, field reporter, and phone in. Special guests would appear such as Romeo and Juliet (who were having relationship issues), Lady Macbeth (the counsellor, who ended up needing the counselling), Othello (on the phone in discussing a crisis of his),Macbeth (doing the weather with raining daggers) and other characters such as Hamlet, the three witches and Rhichard the third. For the following meetings we put pen to paper and began planning a set out as to how the performance would run. Research was done into the characters and their background so we were able to get a better understanding. At this point we also decided to trial some improvisations. This proved to be quite pointless in the end but it helped us to learn how best our group worked. We work better with a firm structure and guidelines, so scripts. For part of our performance we planned to have live footage shown on a big screen as part of the news and interviews. The group also came up with a slogan for our program and a name. We borrowed a video recorder and ran some filming on the beginning of our performance. Not having our costumes for the filming we used the filming taken as first drafts and also for bloopers at the end of our performance. The next couple classes i was away and unfortunately not able to contribute in any way during this time. I created a slideshow at home to show our ideas and did some research on Sunrise. When i returned to class i learnt that the group had had some more discussions. They decided that due to time restraints it would be best to cut some of our original plans so we could really focus on finishing and polishing our performance. They cut the weather and sports. With our new approach we decided to try having another go at improvising and we came up with the basic plot for the interview with Romeo and Juliet, Lady Macbeth (now being interviewed and not the interviewer) and the phone in with Othello. We are now in the process of writing up our scripts, after discussing basic outlines of what we want to say. By the end of this week we hope to have a full dress rehearsay and run through to test how well it all flows and the time it takes. It is time again for an update on what is happening in my group. Well all the filming has been finished and editing is underway and not far off completion. I think we can all say Aaron has done a great job with the filming and editing in his own time, thanks Aaron. I would also like to thank the whole group for all the effort, sacrifice, and input they have put into our performance i'm sure it will be worth it.
